Canon Powershot SD790IS Digital Camera Review

One of the best canon cameras out there right now is the Canon Powershot SD790IS digital camera. After reviewing several other models, this one came out on top.

You will be quickly impressed with the startup speed of the camera and the qualities of the pictures from the Canon Powershot SD790IS are superb. You can take approximately 150 shots and still have lots of battery power. This feature alone puts this one in a class of its own. The flash recharge speed is extremely fast when compared to other thin digital cameras.

Pictures taken on the "auto" mode come out looking perfect and the color always seems accurate. Faces are not washed out; pictures taken in bright sunlight, distance shots or close up, all come out as you want them to, great!

Canon Powershot SD790IS Digital Camera Review

The Canon Powershot SD790IS digital camera turns on and is ready to use almost instantly, and focuses quickly. Pictures turn out sharp and clear, even with the flash, the zoom works easily with a very accessible button, and there is absolutely no red eye.

The camera is small enough to fit into your pocket and surprisingly light. But don't let the small package fool you as this is one digital camera packed full of features with high quality construction. The body is made from metal rather than plastic which gives it a better feel and makes it sturdier.

The 3.0" LCD screen of the Canon Powershot SD790IS digital camera is bright, and is clearly visible even in bright sun. There is no need for a viewfinder with this one. Another good thing about this camera; it is possible to view images on the camera's screen without extending the lens. When turned off, just hold down the play button to turn on image playback. The lens won't pop out.

This is a great digital camera, and probably the best out there right now in its price range and even better than some more expensive models.

If you plan on shooting a lot in auto mode and want a thin camera with the 3 inch screen, the Canon Powershot SD790IS is the way to go. Another unique feature is that the camera can sense which way you're holding it and shifts the image on the screen.

This review of the Canon Powershot SD790IS digital camera is geared more toward the casual user pointing out features that most people would be interested in rather than from a more technical point of view.

Whether you are looking for a camera to take pictures of your vacations, week-end trips or the kids as they are growing up, the Canon Powershot 790IS digital camera is one that I highly recommend.

The New Way to Quality Video

Achieving high quality video is easier than ever with 'HD' camcorders all over the marketplace. But, the reality is that whatever the technical specification of a video camera is, it is unlikely to produce video as lush and and as 'filmic' as can be achieved with a suitable DSLR ( Digital single lens reflex ) camera. The relatively large chip or sensor size of a DSLR costing only a few hundred pounds ( say 0 ) gives the videographer the capability to shoot with very small depth of field. Much more so than is possible with a 0 camcorder. Depth of field is a product of sensor size as much as it is of aperture/focal length. Those DSLR cameras that shoot high quality video do so on a chip which is much larger than a video camera of comparable cost.

Currently the weapon of choice is a Canon 5D, with a very large sensor relative to cost-comparable video cameras, but the Canon 7D for example can be found new for about £900. Although the 7D sensor is smaller (The APS-C sensor, as used in a 7D range from 20.7×13.8 mm to 28.7×19.1 mm). It still gives that essential ability to produce an image with a small depth of field. The beauty of DSLRs as video cameras is that the lenses can be so very good. It's possible to upgrade you kit slowly, searching out second hand prime lenses of very high quality.

Now what of sound you ask. Well it's possible. the DSLR was not designed with sound in mind, but recording sound 'offboard' on a digital recorder enable you to acquire the best sound possible. Again rather like the camera, a 'soundkit' can be upgraded as you go, buying radiomicrophones and suchlike as they can be afforded. The problem of 'synching' the sound is so much easier nowadays with a number of 'waveform chaser' software add ons for editing programs. Load your footage from the camera, load your sound from a digital sound recorder and incredibly the software does the rest! Then you can get on with editing your rushes with sound.

The New Way to Quality Video

A digital recorder with 'audio out' would enable you to use a cheap radiomic to send the audiio to the camera. A receiver on the camera, say on the hotshoe mount, and plugged in to the cameras 3.5mm audio in socket, means you have 'guide audio' on the rushes. The quality may not be great, but it enables you to edit, then come back and manualy synch you sound from the digital recorder only synching that sound as is needed for the final edit. A basic digital recorder will record a timecode on to the audio rushes, accurate to the nearest second. This can 'read aloud' into the microphone at the start of a take. This timecode will then be radioed to the camera and can be used to identify the correct take in the final sound edit.

More expensive recorders can run 8bit timecode, accurate to the nearest frame... but hey... lets leave that to the pros!

Thinking About Slim Digital Cameras?

The advantage of a slim camera is all in the size. These days, you can get a camera that is the size of your palm, and it will easily fit into a shirt or pants pocket without you hardly even knowing that it's there. The great thing about this is that you can carry it with you wherever you go without hindrance, and you always have something to grab to take that great Kodak moment photo.

Another great thing about these slim cameras, is that they are all automatic. It is literally a "point and shoot". There is no thought processes, there are no adjustments, you just point at what you want to take a picture of, half press the shutter so that the lens can focus, and then press the shutter all the way and voila! You have a picture.

Canon PowerShot SD780IS

Some digital cameras are popular with young adults because of their very mobility and light weight. They are also popular with the younger crowd because they are very affordable. Generally speaking, you can find these slim digital cameras for less than 0, and if you do some shopping around, you may be able to find them for a lot less than that. Another reason they are popular with young adults is because these cameras are made for entry-level users, and for the most part they are only used for the snapshot moment. The people who are using these cameras are not trying to win a photography contest, they are simply wanting something to capture the moment to post on Facebook, or perhaps to add to their digital photo album.

Thinking About Slim Digital Cameras?

The size of these, thin digital cameras means that it is possible to carry them with you no matter what you are wearing or where you' are going. You can slip them into your pants pocket, and for the women it will fit into the smallest of purses. So even if you are headed to the club in your sexy black cocktail dress, you will have space for one of these slim digital cameras.

Disadvantages of owning slim digital cameras.

The problem with slim digital cameras is that they do not offer you any kind of functionality. They are strictly point-and-shoot, which means that you do not have any creative control whatsoever. While they do usually come with a zoom, and the ones coming out on the market today will come with face recognition, they are still automatic cameras with no user controls.

Another problem that can be present with the slim cameras is the photo quality. This is not true of all slim digital cameras, but when you are looking at a new digital camera you will want to be sure to check the specifics of that feature. If you are looking at a review of a camera check for photo quality, if you are doing an in-store comparison you can ask the salesperson to show you an example of a printed picture.

If you're thinking about buying a slim digital camera, you may want to take a look in your hands first. Why, you might ask? Well, by their very nature, slim digital cameras are very small. If you have sausage fingers, you would probably not be compatible with a slim camera. It is not impossible to use these cameras if you have large hands, but it does make it harder.
