Memory card is a popular flash storage media, which is considered safer than hard drive and other storage devices that contain moving components. You can store all types of files on memory, including photos, songs, videos, documents, and graphic files. It is widely used in digital camera, mobile phone, portable music players, PDAs, portable computers, and more. In some cases, you may accidentally delete photos from the memory or may unexpectedly format it.
In digital cameras, memory cards are used to store all the photos that you capture. However, the digital photos are more prone to loss as compared to the traditional film cameras as digital cameras have a utilitarian but unsafe delete feature or option. The files are still there on the memory and are physically intact. Only the file system entries and file pointers of the files are deleted and thus the files are invisible and inaccessible.
Same as on the hard drive of your computer, when you save a file on memory, a file system entry is created for that particular file in the file system table. The entry contains file name, storage location, file size, file pointer, and other relevant information. The file pointer is used by camera operating system to locate the files on memory and access them. In case of deletion of the file, only file pointer is deleted. Lost photos remain physically intact, until they are overwritten.
If you have a complete and updated backup, restore your lost files from it to prevent need third-party recovery applications are required to extract deleted photos.
